Instead of my inspiration every tuesday-which could get old very quickly- i thought it would be fun to introduce other people and their inspiration here. Today is the first post in this guest series. Sara is the eclectic bohemian spirit behind her design blog and the tour de force behind her mommy blog. She has graciously contributed today so here goes.
Sara says ‘As a mother and designer, the line between the roles gets messy. I mean it has to, of course, for survival and inspiration’s sake. And as summer hits its midway point and I have had more kids than work on my plate for almost a month now, my best most loved inspirations come from my 5 year old when he is in the midst of one of his drawings. He makes me want to get back to the basics, try out all kinds of new scribbles and strokes, without any care as to the results, simply revelling in the process of being able to create in the now.’

Always on the lookout for toys and crafts which are design-friendly, i constantly prowl the virtual world for inspired finds which will make the designer and mother in me very happy. My husband often seriously jokes about my mad desire for everything we buy, everywhere we eat, everyplace we visit, to be worshiping some greater design deity otherwise i just cant stomach it.

This next find is such a simple yet brilliant idea. In her own words, “Childs Own started with a simple idea: to make a recognizable comfort toy for a 4 year-old boy based on his drawing. It was an idea that launched my home-based craft business. Since then, I’ve custom made a few hundred soft toys based on children’s drawings, each one as unique as the child who drew it.”
